Greystone Aristocrat’s elite Irish Draught genetics are available via artificial insemination (AI) providing breeders with flexibility to suit their program and location.
Collected and processed under strict quality and biosecurity standards, his semen ensures the highest fertility potential while preserving his elite pedigree for years to come.
Limited Breeding Opportunity
Greystone Aristocrat will be available for a limited number of breeding seasons to ensure that his exceptional genetics are carefully and effectively introduced into breeding programs. This selective approach allows breeders to maximise the impact of his proven bloodlines, temperament, and athletic potential. Following this period, he will be gelded, preserving his legacy through the quality of the foals he sires while focusing his future on life on the hunting field and in competition arenas.
Collections are available for the 2025/26 season.
He was imported in utero from Ireland as part of a special shipment of two mares in foal to preeminent stallions of the time. His importer, Tamzin Paterson, dreamed of establishing a premier Irish Draught stud in New Zealand. With determination, she assembled a quality broodmare band and looked ahead with excitement to welcoming foals from 2023 onwards.
But fate would prove unkind. Tamzin received a devastating diagnosis of incurable brain cancer, and in 2024 she passed away — far too soon, with so much still ahead of her. Yet she was fortunate to see her dream begin to take shape, witnessing the arrival of Greystone Aristocrat’s first foal crop before her passing.
After her death, efforts were made to find a new home for Greystone Aristocrat, but he remained with those who were committed to continuing Tamzin’s vision. Her great friend Charlotte Porter, with her husband Daniel, stepped in to carry on what Tamzin had started. They purchased Greystone Aristocrat, not only for his pedigree and potential, but as a living legacy of Tamzin’s dream. Today, every foal he sires honours her vision and ensures that her passion for the Irish Draught continues to shape the future of breeding in Australasia.
Charlotte Porter has extensive commercial experience within the equestrian sector, having worked with New Zealand Bloodstock, Majestic Horse Floats and the New Zealand Hunts’ Association Inc. She blends hands-on involvement in equestrian sport with a background in governance, sales, marketing, communications, and technology.
Daniel Butterworth may not be horsey, but he plays an essential role behind the scenes, ensuring the farm runs smoothly and supporting every aspect of operations.
Together, Charlotte and Daniel are committed to honouring Tamzin's legacy through Greystone Aristocrat.
